H2OLOW has been supplied to customers in Australia and other countries around the world. However, tap aerator sizes can vary between manufacturers and individual taps, so we don't recommend choosing your Quick Fit based on country alone.

Many taps use common metric aerator sizes such as 22mm and 24mm, but other sizes and thread types are also available.

The best way to check compatibility is to unscrew the aerator from the end of your tap and measure it accurately using our “How do I measure my tap aerator?” guide. You'll also need to check whether the thread is on the inside (Female) or outside (Male) of the aerator.

Please note that recessed or hidden Cache-style aerators are not compatible with the H2OLOW Quick Fit.

Most standard tap aerators simply unscrew from the end of the tap.

To make fitting your H2OLOW Quick Fit easier, we include a tap aerator key with every Quick Fit, which can be used to help remove your existing compatible aerator.

If your aerator is particularly tight, you can carefully use an adjustable spanner. Place a tea towel or soft cloth around the aerator first to help protect the finish of your tap from scratches or marks.

Turn the aerator carefully to loosen it and don't force it. Once removed, check the thread and aerator size against our measuring and compatibility guides before fitting your H2OLOW Quick Fit.

Some taps have recessed or hidden Cache-style aerators, which require their own specific removal key. These are different from standard screw-on aerators and are not compatible with the H2OLOW Quick Fit.

Tap aerator sizes are often described using terms such as M24, M22, Male and Female, which can understandably be confusing. At H2OLOW, we try to keep things as simple as possible by describing our fittings in plain terms such as 24mm Male or 22mm Female.

The M number refers to the nominal diameter of the metric thread. So M24 refers to a 24mm metric thread, while M22 refers to a 22mm metric thread.

An easy way to remember the difference is:

Male = thread on the outside
Female = thread on the inside

So a 24mm Male (M24) aerator has its screw thread around the outside and screws into a tap with a corresponding internal thread.

A 22mm Female (M22) aerator has its screw thread on the inside and screws over a corresponding external thread on the tap.

You may also see fittings described as M24 × 1 or M22 × 1. The × 1 refers to the thread pitch — the distance between each thread. In this example, the threads are spaced 1mm apart.

Why does thread pitch matter? Occasionally, two fittings can appear to have exactly the correct diameter but have a different thread pitch. If the pitches don't match, the fittings won't screw together correctly even though your measurement appears to be right.

Never force a fitting that doesn't screw on easily, as this can damage or cross-thread the tap or adapter.

Other tap aerator sizes also exist, including some smaller and less common sizes. Rather than trying to identify your aerator by appearance alone, we recommend unscrewing it and measuring it accurately using our measuring guide.

If you've measured your aerator correctly but your H2OLOW fitting doesn't screw on smoothly — or you're simply not sure what you have — stop and get in touch. Yes. You can connect a suitable garden hose adaptor to the H2OLOW Quick Fit, allowing you to connect a standard garden hose directly to your tap.

We supply the high-quality Hozelock 2041 adaptor, which provides a simple way to connect your garden hose to the H2OLOW Quick Fit.

This opens up all sorts of useful possibilities — particularly where an outside tap isn't available. You could use it for watering balcony or patio plants, filling paddling pools or hot tubs, cleaning outside areas, or washing dogs and horses.

Because you're connecting to an indoor tap, it can also give you access to warm water outdoors — particularly handy for washing pets or horses when the weather is chilly.

It's also a practical solution for flats and high-rise buildings with balconies or terraces, where access to an outside water supply may be difficult or impossible.

Yes. The H2OLOW Quick Fit can remain attached to a compatible tap, so you can connect and disconnect your shower hose whenever you need it without repeatedly removing the adapter.

When the hose is disconnected, your tap continues to work normally through the Quick Fit, producing a straight, aerated, non-splash water stream — so it can actually improve taps that otherwise produce a particularly splashy or uncontrolled flow.

This makes it especially convenient if you use your H2OLOW regularly — for example, for hair washing, bathing children, pet washing, cleaning or other everyday uses.

As with any tap fitting, we recommend checking it periodically to make sure it remains securely fitted and in good condition.

Need to remove it? Simply unscrew the Quick Fit and refit your original tap aerator.

Whether an H2OLOW Quick Fit setup complies with UK Water Regulations depends on how and where it is installed and used.

The H2OLOW Quick Fit incorporates a single check valve to help prevent water flowing back towards the tap. However, depending on the installation and how the shower head is used, additional backflow protection may be required.

One way of providing additional protection is to position the shower head so that it cannot become submerged in a bath, basin or other potentially contaminated water. For example, a correctly positioned riser rail or shower-head holder can maintain an appropriate air gap by keeping the shower head above the maximum water level.

Requirements can vary according to the installation and the level of backflow risk, so customers are responsible for ensuring their particular setup meets the regulations applicable to its intended use.

This is particularly important when using an H2OLOW setup in a rental property, holiday accommodation, commercial premises or other managed setting.

Yes. If you'd prefer to use your H2OLOW setup more like a conventional shower, you can fit a suitable riser rail to hold the shower head when it's not being held by hand.

A riser rail can also help with backflow protection, as it allows the shower head to be positioned so that it cannot fall into the bath, basin or other water-filled vessel, maintaining the required air gap between the shower head and the maximum water level.

This is particularly relevant when considering UK Water Regulations, as the way a hand shower is positioned and used forms part of protecting the mains water supply from possible contamination.

H2OLOW offers different hose options to suit different uses. The Quick Fit uses a standard ½" BSP shower hose connection, so other ½" BSP shower hoses may physically connect if you require a different length.

However, H2OLOW shower hoses have been tested for use with our shower heads, including our On/Off Shower Head, and we recommend using an H2OLOW hose with this setup. We cannot guarantee the performance or suitability of third-party hoses that we haven't tested.

This is particularly important when using the On/Off Shower Head. When the flow is stopped at the shower head while the tap is still running, the hose can remain under water pressure. A hose that isn't suitable for this type of use could potentially fail or burst under pressure.

The On/Off function is designed as a convenient temporary pause while showering or washing, rather than as a replacement for turning off the tap. Always turn the water off at the tap when you've finished using it and never leave the hose pressurised and unattended.

½" BSP is the standard plumbing connection commonly used on shower hoses, shower heads and many other shower fittings in the UK.

Confusingly, ½" BSP does not mean that the thread itself measures half an inch (12.7mm) across. The ½" refers to the nominal pipe size — the actual outside diameter of a male ½" BSP thread is approximately 21mm.

You may also see the same thread described as G1/2 or G½, particularly on manufacturers' specifications or imported products.

H2OLOW shower hoses and compatible shower fittings use a standard ½" BSP connection, so they can be used with standard ½" BSP shower heads and compatible accessories.

The H2OLOW Quick Fit is designed for taps with an aerator that unscrews from the end of the tap, leaving an exposed screw thread either on the end of the tap or on the unscrewed aerator for the H2OLOW adapter to connect to.

If your tap isn't suitable, don't worry — you may still have options. Check whether another tap in your home has an unscrewable aerator that you could use instead. Alternatively, changing the tap itself doesn't necessarily have to be expensive and may be worthwhile if you'd like to use the H2OLOW Quick Fit regularly. We've helped customers find suitable replacement taps in the past, so we're happy to point you in the right direction.

Unscrew and remove the aerator from the end of your tap.

Looking directly at the threaded end, place a ruler straight across the centre and measure the outside diameter of the thread, from outer edge to outer edge.

Measure as accurately as possible — even a difference of 0.5–1mm can affect compatibility.

Top tip: Make sure the ruler passes directly across the centre of the aerator. Measuring slightly off-centre can give you an inaccurate reading.

Use a Tap Aerator Key to unscrew the existing aerator. If it's stuck due to limescale, you could try soaking the tap end in white vinegar for 10–15 minutes to loosen it.  Please test an inconspicuious area of your tap to make sure there is no chance that you might damage your tap with the vinegar

1. Check the thread type – Most UK taps have either a male (thread on the outside) or female (thread on the inside) fitting. Our QuickFit Aerators come with adapters for both
2. Choose the right connector – Select the appropriate adapter for your tap type and screw the aerator on by hand.
3. Tighten gently – Ensure it's snug but avoid overtightening.
4. Test the flow – Turn the tap on to check for leaks. If needed, hand-tighten a bit more or use a washer if included.

Yes. Choose our Hot & Cold Tap-to-Shower Conversion Pack, which is specifically designed for compatible separate hot and cold taps. It uses two Quick Fit connectors with a Y-shaped shower hose to combine the water supply into one handheld shower.

• Female threads: Thread is on the inside (like a nut).
• Male threads: Thread is on the outside of the fitting (like a bolt).

Common sizes:

• M22 = 22mm male thread
• M24 = 24mm male thread

If your tap has an external thread, you'll need a female aerator (e.g., M22 female), and vice versa.

Yes, the gentle flow and easy thumb-lever control can make the shower head useful for washing pets, babies and young children — but care must always be taken with water temperature.

The Thumb Lever Shower Head does not contain a thermostatic temperature control and does not regulate the temperature of the water supplied to it.

Always set and check the water temperature at the tap before use and check it again before pressing the thumb lever to release water from the shower head. Re-check the temperature after any pause or whenever the hot or cold tap settings have been changed.

Take particular care when washing babies, young children, elderly people or anyone who may be more vulnerable to hot water. Never rely on the shower head itself to control or limit water temperature, and never leave a child unattended during use.

If in doubt, test the water carefully before allowing it to come into contact with skin.

Yes, with the appropriate hose attachment, you can easily wash your hair in the sink.

Yes. Quick Fit products are designed to be easy to install and remove, with no permanent plumbing alterations required on a compatible tap. This makes them particularly useful for renters, housing association and supported-living homes, caravans, motorhomes and other situations where a permanent shower installation may not be practical.

If you live in rented or housing association accommodation, always check your tenancy or landlord requirements before making any changes to existing fittings.

Yes, our QuickFit Aerators come with adapters for both male and female tap fittings.
